LIBRARY Rules & Regulations

Thelesis Lodge Library Rules and Regulations

* All holdings of the Lodge Library will be kept and maintained on the premises of Thelesis Lodge. The collection will be divided into Class A and B volumes: Class A constituting rare and hard-to-replace books and Class B being readily replaced titles.

* All initiate members of the Ordo Templi Orientis who regularly pay monthly local dues to Thelesis Lodge or participate in the Temple Pledge program are eligible to borrow books without posting a deposit.

* All non-initiate members of Thelesis or initiate members who do not regularly contribute to Thelesis will leave a $20 cash deposit when borrowing Class B books and $50 cash deposit when borrowing Class A books. Deposits can either be refunded when a book is returned, or left in trust in the Treasury against future borrowing. All deposits will be noted in the "Library Log" and also entered into the online database periodically.

* All books must be checked-out in person on the premises of Thelesis Lodge. The borrower must make their request and get approval from one of Thelesis Officers and then enter the loan into the "Library Log" book kept in the library. In the Library Log the borrower must fill in the name of the book and author, date borrowed, their own name, home phone number and e-mail address.

* As a rule any one member can have one book out on loan at a time. If said member is working an a specific project or program of research they may request a loan of up to three books; if one of these is returned the borrower may obtain a single further book in its place, etc. Any other arrangements regarding number of books checked out or length of loan needs to be discussed with Thelelsis Officers.

* Regular loans will be for the term of one month though loans can be renewed for one month at a time by notifying and getting approval from any Thelesis Officer and noting renewal in the "Library Log."

* A request may be put in for a book that is currently being circulated.  That request may be made either via e-mail or in person to the Liber Master.

* All loans are subject to recall by the Body Master and must be returned within two weeks of notice being given either in person or via Registered Mail.

* In the event that a book is lost, the last person that checked out the book shall be held accountable for it. That person shall be asked to replace the book, and if the book cannot be replaced, that person will be obligated to pay the appraised cash value of the book to Thelesis Lodge.

* The Liber Master will update and maintain the Thelesis Lodge Library Database of total books in the collection, and it will be available for view to members of the Lodge as a read-only site where one can see where a book is (checked in or checked out) and what date it will be returned. It will also be set to automatically send e-mail notification when books are due. The Liber Master will enter all "Library Log" entries into this online database on a periodic basis.
